Open Source Firmware Conference 2020

EFI boot with LinuxBoot

At OSFC 2019, Ofir Weisse demonstrated a prototype of booting an EFI application (Windows 10) from Linux, with a kernel-based implementation of EFI boot services.

Here, we will talk about the status, challenges, and work ahead to stabilize EFI boot using Linux. We'll discuss the memory model, a way of allowing userspace apps implement EFI protocols if we even need it, and alternatives to having Linux itself implement EFI.
